ED126 - Integrating Technology into Education
While educators increasingly use technology in the lab setting, many don’t know where to start when trying to use it during didactic instruction. Furthermore, administrators have a hard time rolling out these initiatives. This course will go through the stages of a solid rollout plan to take advantage of available technologies. It will also discuss how to teach with technology as an enhancement to education, not a replacement. This course helps instructors, administrators and support staff to better understand how to use these tools.
Module 1: Setting Goals for Integrating Technology - Identify what areas you are looking to improve and how technology might help.
- Research what technology may enhance learning in your learning environment.
- Produce a plan to review with stakeholders.
Module 2: Understanding the Components of Instructional Technologies - Utilizing features of a Learning Management System (LMS)
- Identifying which devices work with the plethora of software, screencast tools and other technology.
- Apply the proper technology for your student base that doesn’t exclude any students.
Module 3: Educational Value of Instructional Technology - Ability to match technology to the learning.
- Explain the different types of learning styles and how technology can assist in reaching more of them.
- Understand the shift in where time is spent in the classroom and after class.
Module 4: Teaching With Technology - Recognize ways to stay mobile and on the move, using technology to keep students engaged.
- Utilizing best practices in introducing your students to new technology.
- Learning ways to increase your comfort level with instructional technology.
